We just shipped a major wallet-first redesign of the Litemint NFT Marketplace. This post covers what changed, why, and a bit of the tech under the hood.

Wallet-First
I was never fully satisfied with the accounts model on the Litemint marketplace. We built it for onboarding convenience (Google, Facebook, email…) but it always felt like a web2 compromise. So we rebuilt it.
No registration. No logins. Simply connect, mint and trade.
With this release, we decided to embrace this open approach that fits the blockchain paradigm better where the marketplace now operates entirely through wallet signatures.
One-Click Minting
Minting NFTs on Stellar is deceptively simple. Assets are first-class on chain — but there are a million ways to mess it up. So we built the tool that handles it for you.
Understanding Stellar NFTs
Stellar provides recommendations through SEP-39, which I co-authored. And a formal standard (SEP-50) by team OpenZeppelin is currently in draft status, though in my view it requires more work before being viable for adoption. You can join the discussion in the Stellar Dev Discord #soroban-itself > NFT SEP via OpenZeppelin channel.
Unlike account-based ledger models like Ethereum, Stellar treats all assets — both native and user-defined — as first-class abstractions. This includes NFTs. We model non-fungibility through asset properties: a single stroop supply and no additional signers. No smart contract required. On Stellar, an NFT is just a regular asset with constrained supply
These assets have full access to Stellar’s interoperability layer: the Layer 1 decentralized exchange (SDEX), cross-currency payments, liquidity pools. They’re compatible with any Stellar wallet out of the box.
In this ecosystem, smart contracts for NFT issuance or trading aren’t a prerequisite — avoiding the complexities and hurdles other ecosystems have met.
The Tool
This design effectively brings to mind the question posed by Mara Bos, Rust team lead, about the necessity of a Rust standard — do we need one? In tech, late arrivals frequently improve upon existing models. They bring effective solutions that simply work. Stellar is a perfect example of this.
Standards discussions may be nice but shipping is better and the best proof that no standard committee is required for NFTs on Stellar is a working tool.
Select your file — image, music, video, 3D model. Click Create and sign the transaction. Done.
The asset is issued, IPFS metadata generated, TOML is configured, and your listing is tradable from any SDEX platform and wallet. Fully SEP-1 compliant out of the box. For creators who want full control, point your domain to your own TOML. For everyone else, we handle it.
Over 28,000 NFTs have been issued this way on *.litemint.store domains already.

It’s that simple, don’t take my word for it. Try it live.
Universal Interoperability
Another advantage of first class assets is that NFTs minted anywhere on Stellar just work on Litemint. Just set anchor_asset_type to nft in your TOML and the marketplace will recognize and index it.
The marketplace also dynamically supports the StellarExpert Top 50 curated list for trading. This means collectors can bid and buy in whatever currency they hold — and sellers receive exactly what they ask for.
It’s the power of Stellar native infrastructure.
Under the Hood: SDEX Price Limits
Selling a single stroop (0.0000001) for more than ~214 of any asset hits the SDEX INT32 price ceiling due to Stellar Core internally using INT32 (see Stellar-ledger-entries.x) for the representation of prices. We solved this using a synthetic asset method that bypasses the limitation entirely — sellers can list at any price without worrying about protocol constraints.
For the technical details, see NFT on Stellar – Solution to Pricing Limitations on the SDEX.
